The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is internationally recognized for its outstanding collection of more than 33,500 objects. From ancient times to modern day, this encyclopedic museum is one of the best in the country, offering visitors the opportunity to explore civilization through the eyes of painters, sculptors, craftsmen, and many other artists. The Bloch Building houses the Museum’s collections of contemporary and African art and features new galleries for rotating exhibitions of photography. A sculpture court dedicated to the works of Isamu Noguchi provides a contemplative space from which visitors can view the surrounding Kansas City Sculpture Park and the great south facade of the Nelson-Atkins building.

At the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, you will find works by modern and contemporary artists from around the world. Since the Kemper Museum’s opening in 1994, its permanent collection has more than tripled. Reflections of Thomas Hart Benton’s life are present in both his home and his paintings. A renowned painter, sculptor, lecturer and writer, Benton had a gift for interpreting everyday life. Benton’s two-and-a-half story late Victorian-style home and art studio remains exactly how he left it since his death in 1975.

This landmark outdoor theatre opened in the summer of 1950 for Kansas City, Missouri’s Centennial celebration. Each season consists of five Broadway-style shows, both self-produced and national tours as well of several contemporary concerts.
