The National World War One Museum opened on December 2, 2006 and is designated by Congress as the nation’s official World War One Museum. The exhibits contain objects and documents ranging from weaponry and uniforms used during the war, to letters and postcards from the field. The Liberty Memorial was dedicated on November 1, 1921 and was funded by a community-based fund-raising drive in 1919, which raised over $2.5 million in less than two weeks.
