The Overland Park Convention Center (913-339-3000) is a new and exciting alternative for groups meeting in the Kansas City area. Already a strong player in the corporate market, Overland Park is now able to host more corporate and association meetings and larger convention groups than ever before. The $46.5-million full-service center offers 237,000 total square feet of meeting, exhibition, banquet, pre-function and service space. It features state-of-the-art technology with high-speed Internet access and outlets for audio-visual connections and multimedia presentations in the meeting rooms and exhibition hall. A complete in-house food service operation is also available. There are 1,400 parking spaces, including 400 covered. Other features include a dramatic nine-story glass tower on the outside, extremely wide corridors, ample natural light and attractive artwork from regional artists. An enclosed, climate-controlled walkway connects the 20-story, 412-room Sheraton Hotel to the Convention Center. The city offers over 5,100 hotel rooms including the 412-room Sheraton. Groups booking the facility will also appreciate that over 1,000 hotel rooms are within walking distance of the convention center and a total of 3,000 rooms are within a five-minute drive.
